The Journey to Evergreen
Moving to IFS Cloud is just the first step. Staying updated over time—managing new releases, service updates, and changes—is what truly defines a successful IFS investment. That’s where ALM comes in.
As part of Addovation Engage, our ALM service helps you stay in control of your system’s lifecycle, ensuring you’re always aligned with IFS updates and industry best practices.

Why Staying Evergreen Matters
IFS releases two major updates per year—R1 and R2—as well as ongoing service updates in between. While each release is supported for 23 months, keeping up with these changes requires careful planning, testing, documentation, and coordination.
Challenges you may face:
-
Understanding the impact of each update on your solution
-
Allocating time and resources for testing and training
-
Ensuring documentation is kept up to date
-
Dealing with uncertainty around customizations and integrations
-
Realizing that IFS Cloud is not evergreen by default

❓ What is ALM and why do I need it?
ALM stands for Application Lifecycle Management. It’s a structured way to manage updates, improvements, and changes to your IFS solution – from planning and testing to final delivery. It helps keep your system up to date, stable, and aligned with your business needs.
❓ How often should I run an ALM process?
That depends on your business and how often IFS releases updates or your environment changes. Many of our customers follow a quarterly or semi-annual ALM cycle to stay current and avoid big, disruptive upgrades later.
❓ What do I need to prepare before an ALM project starts?
Not much! We’ll guide you through everything. We usually begin by agreeing on a timeline and checking prerequisites like ongoing development, customizations, or license compatibility.
❓ Does ALM include testing?
Yes – testing is a key part of the process. We handle internal testing, and then you’ll perform a customer test before approving the release for production.
❓ Will there be downtime during the ALM process?
We always aim to minimize or avoid downtime. Any necessary downtime will be clearly communicated and planned at a time that works best for your team.
❓ Is ALM included in Addovation Engage?
Yes! ALM is an integrated part of Addovation Engage, our long-term service model. That means you get a consistent, proactive approach to managing your solution – with a team that knows your setup inside and out.
