We’re setting up the pace towards Nordic excellence
With solid ERP expertise, Addovation is aiming to become the leading provider in the Nordics
“I’ve worked with ERP pretty much my whole life. I have 17 years of experience with IFS, where I was responsible for the entire consulting business in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. I’ve now been with Addovation for over five years.”
This is what Joakim Hugosson says, who today is the CEO of Addovation — a leading provider of ERP solutions such as IFS Cloud and NetSuite, along with the surrounding infrastructure.
Addovation has supported countless companies on their digital transformation journey
Now, the company itself is entering a new phase of change after new owners, the Norwegian investment firm Credo Partners, joined with ambitious plans for the future.
Joakim Hugosson’s point is that Addovation possesses a tremendous amount of expertise — and now has even greater opportunities to reach more customers across the Nordics. He’s happy to share more about Addovation’s story:
“It all started in Drammen in 2008. The founders were interested in making ERP systems easier to use. They wanted to develop technical solutions that made systems like IFS simpler and more efficient to work with. That’s something we still live by today.”
“In 2019, we reached a turning point where we decided to focus on a more long-term strategy and build a larger, more structured company with a clearer Nordic focus. Since then, we’ve grown rapidly and hired many highly skilled people — typically around 30 to 40 each year,” says Hugosson.
New owners with big ambitions
He explains that in recent years, there has been a strong focus on building expertise and creating a motivated, high-performing environment.
“Our goal now is to become the natural first choice in the areas we operate in. To achieve this, we need professional owners who can strengthen our long-term ambitions. We recently completed our first acquisition, and under the new ownership of Credo Partners, we plan to grow both organically and through further acquisitions.”
Addovation recently acquired EBS Consulting, giving them the largest team of NetSuite experts in the Nordics and making them the Alliance Partner with the most NetSuite specialists in the region. This aligns with their Nordic ambitions: Hugosson says that while Addovation is currently strong in Norway and Sweden, they have a smaller presence in Finland and are barely established in Denmark.
“We aim to build on what already exists in these countries. It’s important to emphasize that we are Nordic, that our decisions are made in the Nordics by people with Nordic values. Being Nordic is in our DNA. Many of our competitors are international companies based in Asia or the U.S., so our Nordic identity gives us a significant advantage. We intend to lead the way in development and provide our customers with the expertise they deserve.”
High level of expertise
Andreas Ehrengren, Chief Architect at Addovation, who also has extensive experience with IFS, elaborates on the expertise Addovation possesses today and intends to continue developing.
“IFS is particularly strong in industries such as manufacturing, service, construction, oil and gas, and so on. Heavy industries are something we excel at. In Sweden, for example, Addovation has offices in Jönköping, where there is a strong industrial base, and it is natural for us to have this type of customer.”
Innovation and new solutions
Addovation’s goal is for all their customers, regardless of industry, to benefit from the expertise and technologies being developed and integrated into workflows. Artificial intelligence is a natural area of focus.
“We’ve been talking about AI for many years, but now things are really starting to happen in our world. AI agents that can actually assist and help are proving very useful and can be implemented quite quickly. We’ve explored how AI can be used to access sensitive data that companies don’t want to share with external parties.”
“There’s a lot of potential in using these technologies to streamline complex decision-making and make faster decisions than humans can manage.”
“Of course, it’s also important that our data is well-organized, controlled, and accessible only to those who need it. There are frameworks and tools in place to manage this.”
The heart of the company
Both Andreas and Joakim emphasize that many of Addovation’s customers are engaged in very long-term partnerships — some have been with the company since 2008.
“During the acquisition by Credo Partners, they asked our customers what they value most, and the answer was almost unanimous: it’s our knowledge and expertise. Maintaining long-term relationships means we don’t have to start from scratch every time they need help,” says Andreas.
“When we carry out a major implementation, we get to know the customer very well. And that’s usually just the beginning of a journey. Changing an ERP system, for example, is like replacing the very heart of a business. We need to maintain it, update it, and modernize it. Keeping applications ‘evergreen’ isn’t the same as updating a smartphone operating system.”
Stability and range
Andreas Ehrengren also points out that what sets Addovation apart from many similar providers is the breadth of services they offer.
“We always look at what additional products we can offer alongside ERP. This could include automation services, product configurators, integration platforms, and more. It’s a major strength that we can make everything work seamlessly together.”
This aligns with Addovation’s overall strategy:
“We know that customers want a larger, stable player with deep expertise who is constantly up to date with new technologies and innovations. We need the capacity to stay at the forefront of development and deliver the value our customers deserve. Achieving this requires a certain scale to succeed,” concludes Joakim Hugosson.
