Fagerhult accelerates digital transformation with Azure Integration Services

Addovation has signed an agreement with Fagerhult, a leading European lighting company, to modernize its integration platform, transitioning from BizTalk to Azure Integration Services.

The deal represents an important step in Fagerhult’s ongoing digital transformation and lays a strong foundation for future digital initiatives.

By replacing legacy-based integration with a scalable, cloud-native platform, Fagerhult will gain increased agility and improved access to data across systems. Modern integration is a key enabler for unlocking the full potential of digitalization, where seamless data flow and real-time insights are critical.

The implementation will initially be rolled out across the Nordic region and will later expand globally, covering core business processes including sales, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and maintenance. The solution will support Bjelin’s sales companies, distribution centers, and seven production facilities worldwide.  

In recent years, Bjelin Group has made significant investments to expand production capacity and strengthen its global market position. Consolis is dedicated to helping its customers reduce emissions through the production of prefabricated concrete elements. These elements are manufactured in factories and then transported to construction sites for assembly, streamlining processes and enhancing sustainability.

With operations in 17 countries, Consolis faces significant coordination and logistical challenges, particularly for its IT department. Radboud Wijnen, CIO at Consolis, has leveraged his extensive experience to lead the company’s digital transformation. Under his guidance, Consolis has focused on upgrading to the ERP system IFS Cloud™, with Addovation providing crucial support throughout the process.

Consolis emphasizes the importance of local markets while ensuring global integration. The IT teams work on both local tasks and broader service delivery, supported by a flexible and efficient IT infrastructure. Wijnen highlights the importance of a flat organizational structure and the trust placed in the IT teams to manage themselves effectively. He states, “The IT teams don’t need to be in the offices at all times. I myself am based in Barcelona, and I believe in a flat organizational structure. Implementing IFS Cloud™ for Enhanced Efficiency

The upgrade to IFS Cloud marks a significant step in Consolis’ digital transformation. This upgrade aims to standardize and enhance functionality across all markets, starting with a pilot project in Sweden. The project was designed to be completed within six months, with clear objectives and excellent cooperation between Consolis and Addovation. Wijnen explains, “The project was very clear from start to finish, and we had excellent cooperation with Addovation. It was important for us to implement right out of the box without writing extra code, and Addovation delivered on that.”

The results of the upgrade are already evident. Consolis’ IT architecture is now simpler, allowing users to access necessary data directly from IFS Cloud. This improvement has enhanced control over financial aspects and overall operations, providing the simplicity, precision, and timing needed in today’s market. Wijnen notes, “Our IT architecture has become simpler. Before, we had to live with different systems that you had to go into and check data. Now users can just go into IFS Cloud and retrieve what they need.”

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability remains a top priority for Consolis. The company offers the Green Spine Line®, a product series with low-emission products that use less cement and are lighter. The upgrade to IFS Cloud supports Consolis’ sustainability goals by facilitating easier data extraction for sustainability reports and integrating applications for seamless operations. Wijnen emphasizes, “Part of the strategy is to be able to extract all the data we use for sustainability reports more easily. IFS Cloud is very sophisticated when it comes to quick access to data and integrating applications that make it even more seamless.”

As Consolis continues to modernize its operations, the pilot project with IFS Cloud is just the beginning. Wijnen concludes, “We are spread across Europe, and we are in full swing modernizing to make everyday life greener and more focused.”
